I have also irregular flicker on the screen from time to time, which actually got worse yesterday - then i powered the screen down.īesides that, i also have found a darker spot on the screen.
But the colors looked exactly like before, I guess. Could the computer send a OK RGB-signal and even though tell me the external screen is a TV, and has this anything to do with me using the DisplayPort? I actually tried a script (might be yours), and the TV-status was gone.

The only thing that tells me that everything in not alright is the info in screen settings telling me thera are 60hz and 50hz options, and that the system info says "tv: yes". The screen itself turn RGB on when connected. The thing is, I think the colors look as they should, and I also get the info that i get ARGB from the computer. No HDMI is involved, the Dell takes DP directly. Well, the screen is connected via MDP -> DP with one cable.

I'm SUPER angry and annoyed right now at how much time I've wasted just trying to hook a monitor up properly to my computer. And the fact that Apple refused to help me is unforgivable and I should be given a refund on my AppleCare since they have yet to be able to actually fix any problems I've had. This should not be a problem in this day in age. It took me two days to set up a very basic two monitor extended desktop system and have the colors match. The fact that I have to "hack" my OS to make it work is unbelievably lame. The fact that Apple made it impossible to turn such a basic setting on or off is ridiculous.

Not to mention, RGB can be used with TVs as well.My PS3 for example, sends RGB. HDMI is not only for TV connections, man. And since Apple's hardware in this machine doesn't support DP1.2, I can't daisy chain. That'd be brilliant if I didn't already have another monitor plugged in there. This issue is now fixed for me, and it can be for you as well. Since Apple refuses to correct this situation, I used some resources online and made it cut and dry. Yet, if you call them about it, you'll just get the run around and have no real answer other than, "just buy our massively overpriced monitor and it'll work." (I spent over an hour and half on the phone with Apple "tech support" and they couldn't even understand the basics of how their own systems work in regard to monitors.I had it on speaker phone the whole time and even my Luddite girlfriend couldn't believe what she was hearing.) It's a commonly posted about topic that Apple (whether they will admit it to you or not) is blocking the sending of the RGB color space to many non-Apple monitors.which is a bunch of malarkey. I grab my monitor stand on Ebay, it’s a Mid 2010 iMac (A1312) part: 922-9365 but any 2009 -2011 iMac stand should be fine with 9 hole mounting.This specifically refers to the Dell U2414H monitor being sent the wrong color space (YPbPr instead of RGB). I think you don't need explanation how beautiful this monitor stand is if you have Apple products… The plastic stand which came with the Dell is actually not too ugly but I decided to replace it with an Apple one. With the Dell monitor I have no random waking, even it’s turned on or in energy saving state.

Not sure if every BenQ display causing sleep issues but this model certainly triggered my PC to wake up every time. I had to switch off the display after sleeping the machine, otherwise the computer waked up after 1-2 seconds. I switched to this Dell U2414H display because I had sleep issues with BenQ 2320H, my previous display. You can buy all the parts and assemble them with a screwdriver. I decided to make one because it’s very easy to do at home, no special tools are required.
